Marita qualified with a Degree in Architecture from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is a registered member of the South African Institute of Architectural Professions. After working in Cape Town on Commercial and Residential projects in South Africa and the United Kindom, she obtained a Masters in Environmental Management from the University of Stellenbosch. During this time Marita worked as an Architect and Planner in the Stellenbosch University Facilities Management Department and was responsible for space planning and conceptual design of new and existing buildings, as well as additions to South African Heritage Association listed buildings on campus. She was also tasked with the Urban Planning of the University grounds, roads and parking areas. She returned to KwaZulu-Natal in the beginning of 2008 to concentrate on her first love, sustainable architecture. Marita is passionate about nature and conservation and is an active member of the KwaZulu-Natal Crane Foundation situated at the Hlatikulu Crane and Wetland Sanctuary in the foothills of the Drakensberg.
